# API changelog

Every change to the Fundalyze API and MCP server, newest first. Breaking changes are announced here in advance.

New tools, parameters and fields can arrive at any time; **breaking changes are announced here before they take effect**. What counts as breaking is set out in [Changes and versioning](/developers/concepts/versioning).

## Oct 7, 2026

### The API and MCP server launch

- **MCP server** at `https://api.fundalyze.ai/mcp` and **REST API** at `https://api.fundalyze.ai/api/public/v1`, serving the same tools. Included in every paid plan and the free trial.
- **Eight tools:** `search_companies`, `get_company`, `get_financials`, `list_filings`, `get_insider_trades`, `get_congress_trades`, `get_headlines` and `get_economy`.
- **API keys** in [Account → API & MCP](/account/api): up to 3 per account, shown once, revocable at any time.
- **Limits:** 2,000 calls per key per UTC day, REST and MCP together, and one call at a time per key. Successful REST responses carry `X-Quota-Remaining`.
- **Public catalogue and OpenAPI document**, no key needed: `GET /api/public/v1/tools` and `GET /api/public/v1/openapi.json`.

### Connectors with OAuth sign-in

- Claude (Desktop and claude.ai), ChatGPT and other MCP clients that support OAuth can connect by signing in to Fundalyze and choosing Allow, with no key to copy. Each connection has its own daily quota and can be disconnected under Account → API & MCP → Connected apps. See [Authentication](/developers/concepts/authentication).

### Usage in your account

- Account → API & MCP shows calls per day for the last 30 days, broken down by key and connected app.

### Credits

- Every successful call is recorded against your account's credit balance. **Credits are not enforced**: nothing is blocked when a balance runs out. Enforcement will be announced here before it starts. See [Credits](/developers/concepts/credits).

### New datasets

Ten tools on top of the first eight:

- **Ownership and leadership:** `get_leadership` (founders and control, the CEO, CEO pay by year), `get_institutional_holders` (the latest 13F holders of a stock), `get_short_interest` (FINRA short interest by settlement date, with FINRA's attribution) and `get_investor` (a fund's or super investor's 13F holdings and quarter-over-quarter changes).
- **Financials and filings:** `get_reported_financials` (statements exactly as filed, values by business segment and geography, and material changes between filings) and `get_filing_summary` (AI summaries that already exist for a filing, with their citations).
- **Trading activity:** `get_insider_feed` (open-market insider trades across all companies, or cluster buys) and `get_congress_feed` (congressional trades across all companies, filterable by member, party and chamber).
- **Companies and screening:** `get_peers` (our researched peer list for a company) and `screen_companies` (filter and sort companies on public-record metrics).

### Documentation

- These docs: quickstarts, concepts, a reference page per tool with a worked example from real data, the [data dictionary](/developers/dictionary), an [API explorer](/developers/explorer), [`/llms.txt`](https://fundalyze.ai/llms.txt) and a Markdown version of every page.
- `GET /api/public/v1/dictionary` (no key): every metric key `get_financials` accepts, and the metrics `screen_companies` can filter on.
- `https://api.fundalyze.ai/docs` now leads to the [API reference](/developers/reference).
