# Connect Claude Code

Add the Fundalyze MCP server to Claude Code with an API key, in one command.

## Before you start

- A Fundalyze plan or free trial.
- An API key from [Account → API & MCP](/account/api). It is shown once, when you create it: copy it then.
- Claude Code installed, in a terminal or your editor.

## 1. Add the server

Run this in a terminal, with your key in place of `fdz_live_YOUR_KEY`:

```bash title="Terminal"
claude mcp add --transport http fundalyze https://api.fundalyze.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer fdz_live_YOUR_KEY"
```

This adds Fundalyze for the project you are in, for you only. To have it in every project, add `--scope user` after `add`.

## 2. Check it

```bash title="Terminal"
claude mcp list
```

`fundalyze` should be listed as connected. Inside a Claude Code session, `/mcp` shows the server and its tools.

## 3. Ask

Ask in plain words. Claude picks the tools; you do not need their names. For example:

- "Using Fundalyze, compare Microsoft's revenue, operating income and diluted EPS for the last three fiscal years."
- "Who has been selling NVIDIA stock lately? Show insider trades and any trades disclosed by members of Congress."
- "What was the latest U.S. unemployment rate, and when is the next release?"

Each answer ends with a fundalyze.ai link. Ask Claude to include it when you share the result.

## Keep the key out of shared files

A key added the way shown above stays in your own Claude Code settings. If you share the server with your team in a project's `.mcp.json`, do not write the key into it: reference an environment variable instead, and give each person their own key.

```json title=".mcp.json"
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fundalyze": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.fundalyze.ai/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${FUNDALYZE_API_KEY}" }
    }
  }
}
```

## If something goes wrong

- **401 or "Invalid API key":** the key is mistyped or was revoked. Create a new one and run the command again (`claude mcp remove fundalyze` first).
- **402:** the account behind the key has no active plan or trial.
- **"Another call with this API key is still running":** Claude sometimes calls several tools at once, and Fundalyze runs one call at a time per key. The message tells Claude to wait and retry, and it usually does.
- **"This API key has used today's 2000 calls":** the daily quota is used; it resets at 00:00 UTC.
